Directions to Redwood Beach Resort

By Car (4 X 4 auto strongly recommended). Redwood Beach Resort is located in a remote region of Nicaragua, but the area is growing up quickly around us. The roadways are being improved, and travel is much easier (and safer!) than it has ever been. A 4 X 4 is recommended, but a standard car is acceptable. Take your time, enjoy the ride, and savor the experience as you venture closer to our Hidden Paradise.

From Managua, take the new highway North toward Leon and Chinandega.
Follow the highway around Leon by making a right at the intersection, bypassing Leon city, and then another right to continue North toward Chinandega.
In Chinandega at the Rotundo, follow the first exit to El Guasale and Cosiguina
Make a left to NIC 12, towards the Estero and Cosiguina.
Make a right at the lime green house with orange trim (on the right, just a short distance.) Follow the signs to the right at the big intersection to Volcan Cosiguina and Potosi. There road is currently under construction.
After 3 kilometers, the road will divide. You will see a Texaco gas station on the right. Follow left, entering the only road North towards Cosiguina and Potosi.
You will pass the entrances to Marina Puesta del Sol and Jiquilillo. As the road “ends” - turns to gravel— at the El Rodeo medical station, continue straight for 36 kilometers.
Make a left turn when you see the building on the left with a new metal roof and no walls. You will see our sign. Follow this road 3.9 kilometers into Mechapa, and make a right turn into our resort which is right before you drive into the Pacific Ocean. If you need to ask for directions, most people know us as the “cabanas in Mechapa.”

By Bus

From Leon or Chinandega, take the Mechapa bus which will bring you directly in front of the entrance to RBR.

By Boat

The quickest and, some say, the most comfortable way to RBR is to drive or take a bus to Jiquilillo and take a 5 minute boat ride across the Estero Padre Ramos. We will meet you at the beach and drive you the 20 kilometers to RBR. One of our staff can take the boat back to your car and drive it to the resort for your return trip. This “shortcut” is most enjoyable and saves about 1 1/2 hours of driving along bumpy road. Please contact us in advance so that we can send detailed instructions and a rate quote.
