Since April 2018 Nicaragua has been suffering civil unrest.  It has made travel up and down the Pacific coast extremely difficult because of road blocks, marches, and wandering gangs.  If you are considering traveling here, we strongly recommend that you avoid flying into Managua and fly into San Salvador, El Salvador.  There, you can catch a cab to La Union, spend a night at the Comfort Inn, and we’ll help arrange a boat to the Immigrations and Customs Office in nearby Potosi, Nicaragua.  If you do all that, we’ll pick you up there and drive you around the Volcano Vosiguina to RBR in Mechapa (totally free - Heck! You made the effort....so can we!).

Chinandega Department, and our far NW area specifically, has remained untouched by the violence and horror they are experiencing down south.  Being on the “Paradise Fringe of War” has its advantages, of course, and we’re determined to stay in Nicaragua.  As far as the cabanas....they look just as good in real life as they do in the photos - maybe better!  Fresh fish - check.  Fresh veg - check. Safe haven and quiet place to surf, swim and shell out? Big check.

So, if you need us....we’re here!
